Friday, February 22, 2008 [High Scool Dance 2008]

Together with Grace, Jasper, Rizelle & Angelica, we arrived late but the program wasn't yet starting. I was surprised with the dresses of my classmates. Many of them were saying that their gowns are ugly so I expected that way, but I was wrong. Haha. The program started with the parade. I walked to my table, number 11. I was seated with CJ, Ronilo, Jules, Austin, Paolo, Nikki, Erika, and Lalaine. The program started with the opening prayer, the national anthem, and opening remarks. The presentation of students followed. We were the last batch of students. Well, the removed Sugar Plum Smile Award proved that the act is not worth it cause while walking in the limelight, my smile retained for a couple to five minutes. Our group was hilarious cause Jules showcased some funny moves and antics that impressed the whole Palms and of course, the judges. It was followed by the dances we've been preparing since early February. I was included in the first group of the seniors and juniors. Together with my partner, Jamea, we will dance slow waltz. (My classmates & I were wondering if there is a fast waltz. Please clarify me about this.) Well, the outcome is not so good because of the minute dancefloor. Since our steps need large dancing area, Mea & I keep on stepping out of the dance floor.

Then, the announcement of finalists followed. For the Best Dressed Male Category, Austin & Jules were nominated. For the Best Dressed Female Category, Rizelle, Kat, Janine, Angelica, Ebony, Clare, Joan, Grace & Nikki were nominated (Ivory, Mea, Lalaine & Ana should have been nominated. That's what I feel). (Before the announcement of the Best Dressed Female Category, I was telling my seatmate Nikki that she will be nominated. She didn't believe me. But when she heard her number called, she was surprised and told me that I have an angelic tongue.) The finalists for Mr. High School were called, Paul, Jules and I were nominated. (Well, Nikki told me that I will be nominated. I also told her that she has an angelic tongue). For the Ms. High School Category, Rizelle, Kat, Janine, Kriselle, Grace & Nikki were nominated. (In the middle of the announcement of finalists, I told Nikki that after four called numbers, she will be called. I can't remember how many numbers were called before she was called. She told me that I really do have an angelic tongue.)

It's dinner time! Our table was third to be called. For appetizer, I picked a chicken something. It looks edible so I picked it. I was about to get salad but then I realized that it has mayonnaise. Yuck! Then, the main course, I don't like their appearances. Haha. I chose a dish of pork in beige sauce. Haha. I don't know what food is that. I also picked fish fillet even though I don't eat fish. Good thing that the rice is garlic. It's not perfume rice (I just named the rice that way because it smells and tastes like perfume. I also vomitted when I swallowed that rice during our Second Year High School Dance.) For desserts, I chose mangoes! Haha. I also picked Lemon Chiffon Cake. Nikki saw a chocolate syrup for crepes, I told her to pour them over the cake. Haha. Taste test time! (CJ told me that I am a critic since I react everytime I taste their foods.) I first tasted the chicken something. Eew! It tastes like grasses. I gave that food to CJ, it sucks. Then, the pork in beige sauce, it tastes ok. Then the fish fillet. I appreciated it. But when I was about to finish the fish, I wanna vomit. Haha. Then, I ate mangoes. I really loved it. I tried the lemon chiffon cake, it was nice, too. Though it's a bit spongy and tongue-unfriendly, it's awesome. The cameraman arrived. I made a scene. I was eating mangoes while he was roaming around our table with his camera. My other classmates kept on laughing with what I did.

After eating, our table was the center of attention. We kept on taking pictures. We were very noisy saying the words, "Hoy! Yung camera ko naman". The table of the faculty teachers were looking at us but we didn't mind. We kept on taking pictures and showcased our smiles. No one can stop us cause this is our last and we want to treasure many memories through pictures. I think that 90% of those cameras used in taking picture have my faces all of the time. Haha.

CJ approached me to go to the washroom. I saw my Computer Teacher inside. He came to me and said, "Whatever happened, you're still my best student.. wag mo na lang uulitin.. (he laughs and appeared with me)". Wow! Heartfelt! He is my favorite teacher because he is transparent, not judgmental, and a principled person. He stands with his beliefs and he never mind anyone who steps on him.

After that, class picture taking, presentation of finalists and bequeathal followed. Then the event came to its heart-pounding part, the announcement of winners. Paul & Grace won Mr. & Ms. Popular, respectively. Nat & Janine won Mr. & Ms. Congeniality, respectively. Rendell & Joan won Best Dressed Male & Female, respectively. Carl & Grace won Most Promising Male & Female, respectively. Jackie & Jules won Mr. & Ms. High School, respectively. Our table was very noisy when Jules was hailed winner. The noise even reached its peak when Jackie won. The Sugo Boys were saying that Jules' first dance seems to be Ronilo since Jackie is her sister. We kept on laughing with that.

Socials began. It was a bit boring cause the DJ kept on playing party music. We're not that kind. We want sweet dance. Haha. While they were playing party music, we were not dancing. Instead, we were singing. Haha. In the middle of the socials, Kat & Rizelle reconciled. Yehey! They're my friends and it's so uncomfortable seeing best of friends ignoring each other. I love it.

The program ended with the closing remarks and closing prayer.
